Snoring is a problem among all ages and both genders and is a sign of a disturbed sleep. It is a disorder caused due to repetitive narrowing and collapsing of the upper airway, resulting in that harsh, unpleasant sound. Although it is sometimes believed to be only an annoying and embarrassing side effect of deep sleep, snoring is a symptom which should be investigated further, as it can significantly cause psychological and social damage to the sufferer. Snoring has a tendency to worsen with age, especially if left untreated.
