Diabetes – A Killer Disease

Diabetes or diabetes mellitus is a disease in which a person suffers from high levels of blood glucose often referred as blood sugar in the body. It is caused due to the lack of insulin production within the body cells of a person. The main causes of diabetes is family history , environmental factors like food that a person eats as well as the immune system of the person.

Types of Diabetes

  • Type 1 Diabetes: In Type 1 Diabetes there is no insulin that is being produced by the body. It is usually found in children who developed this problem since birth or at a very young age of 5-6 years.
  • Type 2 Diabetes: Type 2 Diabetes is the most common type of diabetes found in people. During this type of diabetes, it is observed that the body cells of the person does not receive any glucose due to which insulin sensitivity is reduced. The glucose present in the body gets mixed in the blood causing the rise in the blood sugar levels.
